You Can Help
Volunteers Help Make Our Events Successful
While we may not always have day-to-day volunteer roles, we absolutely depend on dedicated volunteers to make these events successful. If you’re looking for local places you can volunteer or just a meaningful way to give back, show up for your neighbors, and have fun doing it—this is it!
Annual Events
At Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, most of the support we provide cancer patients is financial or emotional—and much of that is made possible through our signature fundraising events.

Bridge2Bridge Danville
Bridge2Bridge is one of the most exciting races in Southern Virginia! With stunning views of the Dan River and a community-focused atmosphere, this event, held every April, brings together runners and walkers from across the region.
Charity volunteer positions include:
- Helping with race packet pickup
- Working water stations along the course
- Cheering on participants at finish lines
- Assisting with setup and cleanup
- Keeping things organized and flowing smoothly
This is a high-energy day and a great way to get involved—even if you’ve never volunteered before.

Answer Fore Cancer Golf Tournament
This laid-back, community-friendly golf tournament held every June raises critical funds for our programs while bringing people together for a day on the green. Whether you’re a golf fan or just love helping a good cause, we’ve got a role for you. Volunteers are needed to:
- Assist with registration
- Set up tee signs and event signage
- Staff holes with games or giveaways
- Deliver snacks and water to teams
- Track scores or photograph the day’s highlights
Golf knowledge is not required—just a friendly face and helping hands!

Colors of Cancer Dinner
Held every October, this heartfelt evening blends celebration, remembrance, and community impact. Hosted at the beautiful Atkinson Farms, this event welcomes over 300 attendees for an unforgettable night in support of local cancer patients. The evening begins with an exclusive VIP reception, followed by a seated dinner and a powerful keynote from a current or former DPCA client whose story reminds us all why this mission matters. Throughout the night, guests take part in both a silent and live auction, bidding on items generously donated by local businesses and supporters.
Volunteers are essential in helping us create a warm, welcoming, and well-organized event. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Setup and decorating
- Greeting and checking in guests
- Assisting with auction tables
- Supporting the VIP reception
- Helping during dinner service
- Event breakdown and cleanup
This is an evening full of purpose, beauty, and connection—and your time helps us continue to serve those in the midst of fighting cancer.

Ready To Help?
Many of us don’t know what to say to someone with cancer, and that’s okay—because actions speak louder than words anyway. If you're interested in volunteering at one of our upcoming events, we'd love to hear from you. Even a few hours of your time can have a lasting impact on someone’s journey through cancer.
